Migrants are people move out of their mother countries to other countries due to work related reasons.
These people face a lot of challenges in the destination countries because of some rules and regulations that govern them. As a result of these challenges, there are groups that have been established in the United States to advocate for civil, human and migrant rights:
Larkin and Lacey Frontera Fund
Larkin and Lacey Frontera Fund is one of such organizations in United States. The organization promotes civil, human and migrant rights as well as freedom of expression. It was founded by reporters Michael Lacey and Jim Larking after they were arrested and jailed for publishing an article about the local Sheriff.
The two took legal actions for unfair-arrest since they were campaigning for implementation of human rights. Michael and Jim won the case. They used the money awarded to fund the organization which is based in Arizona. The organization funds groups that promote civil, human and migrant rights.
The coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights (CHIRLA)
This organization protects immigrant families’ and individual rights in California. It was established as a result of Immigration Reform and Reform Act, which discouraged the employment of individuals without legal document.
CHIRLA acts towards empowering and changing public opinion towards policies that suit civil, human and migrant rights. The advocates for human rights defend human rights worldwide. It wants to create a world where individuals live in harmony, equality, integrity, liberty and fairness. The organization was established with a primary mission of promoting civil society and the rule of law through the implementation of human rights standards.
ACLU Immigrants’ Rights Project
This project safeguards all immigrants’ civil and human rights regardless of their race, nationality or religion. The project challenges illegal laws and practices such as unlawful imprisonment, abuse and discrimination. This organization was developed in Sans Francisco due to the growth of organizations that pose a threat to the environment. It works hand in hand with environmental-organizations and ethnic-groups to protect the rights of the indigenous communities living around the Amazon Basin as well as the rainforest.
The American Immigration Lawyer Association (AILA)
AILA is a voluntary non-profit organization comprising of attorneys and law-professors whose aim is to influence the knowledge on immigration law to individuals.
The attorneys also represent United States individuals who seek permanent residence for their relatives as well as industries that seek manpower from other countries. It also represents foreign students, refugees and other individuals who come to United States for other reasons.
These groups promote equality, peace and development for all. They protect people who are legally seeking for employment in foreign countries. They are a good place to run to whenever you found yourself in an unfair circumstance.
